Deborah Shaw

Composer, Sonic Artist, Harpist / Pianist Educator

Deborah Shaw (Aurora Engine) is a composer for film, documentary and visual media, creating immersive scores that blend the boundaries between music and landscape. Her work combines harp, piano and voice with synths and electronics and a rich palette of natural and industrial field recordings she captures herself. These collected sounds usually gathered from Scotland, Co. Durham / Tyneside have become part of the fabric of her compositions. The result is music that is cinematic, atmospheric, at times otherworldly - and emotionally resonant moving between the intimate and ethereal, minimalist and epic.
